When opening a Word document, File Open, File Open Recent, double clicking the file in Finder, the document opens in a reduced size window and I get an audible alert but I'm not sure what Word is alerting. Each time I open a document I need to resize it to full screen so my weary eyes can read the content, menus, etc. Every other version of Word I have used on Mac and Windows opens documents in full screen mode. So to get rid of it and start with a new document by default, open Word (or Excel or PowerPoint), and then choose [Program Name] > Preferences from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
