Excellent site! I`m using a macbook pro mid 2012 to make and perform music in Norway, using Logic pro x, and Main Stage 3, and now need more space for sound files from Logic pro and Main Stage. I guess Samsung 860 pro is the best option. The cheapest I get for 500 GB in Norway is 1899 Norwegian Kroner (235 USD). Then I see a Crucial MX500 1 TB at 2034 NOK (252 USD). Which one would you recommend? Microsoft office 2016 for mac. Space is always good to have, but I guess making and performing music is heavy and demands the best ssd?

My advice essentially remains the same, if the bank account permits, then purchase it. But with SSD storage, more than 8 GB RAM offers small rewards. It is my observation that most users get unnecessarily obsessed by numbers (specifications) than what is warranted. The base model of any MBP will more tha satisfy the needs of the overwhelming amount of users.

After changing my underwear:-P I refitted the old i3 and bingo, booted back up as normal. Anyone know why this would work on a 27' iMac and not a 21.5' one? So: the i7 870 has TDP of 95W but thats irrelevant the power consumption is of 121W and the 21.5 imac doesn't have the juice for that. The i7 870S (wich is the low-power variant) has the TDP of 82W and squeezes 66.63W from the power source. We have a winner.

I like the idea of using an SSD over a HDD. --- The level of expand-ability is key to what I'm looking for. Even though these things can still be expanded, they still cost nearly twice as much as one built from the ground up. But I guess the monitor might be worth it. --- I would call myself a novice, but I have taken apart an Xbox and other devices completely apart, switched out parts, and put them back together without breaking them.
